The Art of Living Alone - A New Chapter

It seems appropriate to begin blogging again on July 4th, Independence Day. Particularly since much of my new blog will be focused on the art of living alone. In addition to my usual chatter about watercolor painting, pencil drawing and other creative projects I will, from time-to-time, share tidbits about this new adventure of mine - the adventure an "older woman" facing life without the requisite man in residence.

The discoveries I've made so far have surprised even me. The peace in finding my footing, tackling "manly" projects with power tools, paying bills, getting out of debt a little at a time and the ultimate surprise of finding that I like me (most of the time) are revelations that empower.

Let me set the stage so you can imagine...

I am a country girl living a life divided. You see much of my time is spent behind a desk in an office pounding on the computer to provide for my needs but my heart... is in the country, my heart is in the process of painting, my heart is in creating and nesting. But, of course, the bills need to be paid... mortgage, electricity, food and kibbles for my cats - Luvy Dovey and Little Miss, and so I divide myself into pieces until the day when I can paint full-time and tend my hoped for chickens.

My country life here in Upstate New York is centered around a little house on eleven plus mostly wooded acres. It is beautiful, private and a little piece of heaven here on earth. But with this country life comes a test to ones endurance (which I will explain along the way) and I am determined somehow to pass the test and live a life that nurtures contentment and feeds the spirit.

So stay tuned, stop back again to see what happens because every day really is an adventure to behold.

Happy Independence Day and God Bless America!
